Simpsons Ride Has Soft Opening

Universal Studios Florida launched some soft openings for the Simpsons Ride. The ride looks fully functioning but it’s not on the wait board or the maps yet. The ride is basically the same set up as the Back to the Future Ride with the giant  screen, Krusty vehicles on many levels, and the same small room for the safety video.

Back to the Future fans I think will be disappointed with the Back to the Future tribute in the queue video. Professor Fink goes to visit the Institute of Future Technology uses a Delorean to go back in time when it existed and talks to doc brown. Christopher Lloyd does Doc Brown’s voice but I personally don’t like the way he looks in the video.

Nevertheless the Simpsons Ride entertains and has a few good laughs but the BTTF Ride will still be missed.

Christopher Lloyd Talks About Animated Doc Brown

I asked Christopher Lloyd about the alleged animated doc brown on the Simpsons ride and Christopher Lloyd told me at the celebration make-a-wish foundation charity event last Saturday that there is a animated doc brown on the Simpson’s Ride at the beginning of the ride and he has a few lines but it is a very short part right at the start of the ride.

Heard it here first on BTTFBlog.com

Back to the Future Screening With Cast Q&A

Tomorrow April 19, 2008 in Celebration Florida which is near Disney World AMC Theaters will be showing Back to the Future at approximately noon for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Some of the cast will be there to give out autographs and do a question and answers segment before the film. Christopher Lloyd, Bob Gale, Claudia Wells, and Jeffrey Weissman will be the cast members attending the event.

Oliver’s time machine replica will be displayed in front of the theatre for photo oppertunties. Which is a great replica except the pet-peeve i have of the red cylinders on the drivers side patoon being the wrong color.

There are 2 type of tickets for sale the regular $30.00 tickets and the $50.00 VIP tickets.  Both include Popcorn and Soda but the VIP tickets give you early admission to get better seats and more time with the cast without a huge mob surrounding them along with a few souvenirs. There are only 375 seats available for this one time showing.

I just purchased my VIP tickets earlier today and since I’m a BTTF fanatic I will be a dork and wear my Marty McFly costume.

You can buy tickets here

Back to the Future and Universal Studios Update

The Delorean time machine replica and Part III Time Train replica have now been brought back into the Florida park for display and photos

There was a rumor going around that USF was planning to turn the train into a Harry Potter attraction but that rumor is now dead. USF is allegedly planning on restoring some of the features and functions of the time train like making the flux capacitor light up and the gadgets spin again. The last time these gadgets were allegedly used was May 1, 1991 when the Back to the Future ride originally opened. The train brought Michael J. Fox, Tom Wilson and Mary Steenburgen to the Ride’s opening.

The Delorean time machine has already been giving a make over to make it resemble the film car from the movie.

Delorean Restoration Update

Been out of town the last 3 weeks backpacking Asia. While I was out of town I found out my dad went to get my cars upholstery fixed which kind of scared me because I don’t like anyone driving my Delorean but me.

They couldn’t figure out how to open the bonnet and I went over there yesterday and opened it for them. The car will be ready today and I’m going to pick it up after work. I’d take some pictures but unfortunately my camera fell into the ocean on my backpacking trip but I will try to figure something out and get picks up right away.

One thing to note, the headliner boards were warped and the guy is having a problem fixing them. He is going to see what he can do but they might be warped to much to fix which means ill have to order new ones from Delorean.com

The breaks are not working as well as I’d like and will be ordering new stainless steel brake lines along with the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder.

Simpsons ride more than a Back to the Future clone

LA Times published an interesting article today about the Simpsons ride and confirms the rumor that the Simpsons ride have added a hommage to Back to the Future. “Simpsons ride creators even added a hommage to “Back to the Future” with a brief appearance by an animated Doc Brown, the mad inventor from the movie.”

Delorean Upholstery Shop

Found a local upholostery shop that does good work in Miami that is willing to install my DMC leather seats, replace the deloreans headliner, and re-dye the delorean’s dash for $300.00.

I will be getting it done once i get back from vacation. Once I get my work done I’ll post pictures and foward you his information if any local Delorean owners need to get some upholstery work done.

Marty McFly 50s Maroon Jacket on Auction

(1) Comments

Marty Mcfly JacketThe Maroon jacket worn by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly in Back to the Future in the 1955 scene will be up for auction on March 15, 2008. Bidding on the 1950s-style beige leather jacket with maroon wool arms and collar worn by Michael J. Fox starts at $2,000 but the Marty McFly jacket is expected to get $4,000 to $6,000

If this leather jacket is expected to get $4,000-$6,000, I wonder what the orange vest is worth or the 2015 jacket or even the Guess Marciano Denim Jacket Michael J. Fox wore from the fall 1984 collection. I’m guessing it would be 5-figures.

Be Kind Rewind Includes Back to the Future?

Months ago rumors was that the new Jack Black and Mos Def movie “Be Kind Rewind” was going to have Jack Black and Mos Def remaking the movie Back to the Future along with dozens of other films.  Supposibly, they couldn’t get the license or some other reason they couldn’t include it into the movie.

When I went to go see it last Saturday I was plesantly suprised when I noticed the synopsis at the theatre said it remakes the film Back To The Future.

After watching the movie patiently awaiting the scene I left dissapointed, there was no Back to the Future scene and the synopsis was made prior to the cancelling of the Back to the Future scene. On youtube I did find someone that “Sweded” the Back to the Future trilogy.

I didn’t enjoy it that much but it looks like they spent some time making the film and the sets.
